Public Safety Subcommittee TOWN OF SIMSBURY, CONNECTICUT REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 8:00 A.M. Main Meeting Room, Town Hall Present were: Diana Yeisley and Mike Paine Others in attendance included: Chris Davis, Tom Fitzgerald, Karin Stewart, Jim Traficante, Neil Sullivan, Todd Myers, Gary Wilcox, Mark Massaro, Patrick Tourville, Shelley Forker, Kristen Formanek, and AnnMarie Garrison. The Regular Meeting of the Public Safety Subcommittee to order at 8:00 A.M. Pledge of Allegiance All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes: The Minutes from March 19th were approved. Updates: 1) Update on Upcoming Events in Simsbury Ms. Yeisley led the discussion on the upcoming weekend that would feature High School Graduation, Youth Soccer Tournament, and Juneteenth event at the PAC. 2) Farmington Valley Health District Ms. Forker spoke about measles case in CT and how the FVHD tracks including vaccinations in schools and the threshold that is used to determine if a community is vaccinated. 3) Town Manager’s Office Mr. Fitzgerald spoke the newsletter and reminded people to submit items. 4) Emergency Management Mr. Traficante spoke about upcoming trainings and how he attended a training symposium recently. New state law has added Camp Emergency Operation Plan review to his duties so he is working through that. He also spoke about monitoring drought conditions with Aquarion. 5) Police Mr. Davis spoke about recent shredding events that happened. It is accessible parking awareness month in June. Mr. Davis said a new officer graduation from the academy yesterday. Finally, Mr. Davis reminded everyone to lock your car and remove valuables from it. 6) Ambulance Ms. Stewart reviewed the yearly call data for SVAA. She said year to date numbers are down. EMT class is starting soon and a new ambulance is expected in July. 7) Fire Mr. Tourville spoke about a recent large structure fire in town as well as some small outlet fires since the last meeting. The fire alarm and sprinkler system that the PAC is now active. There are upcoming firework shows in June, July and August so Mr. Tourville reviewed firework safety as well as grilling safety. Mr. Myers spoke about the amount of training being done in the last quarter. Mr. Myers said they are expecting a new rescue truck to be delivered earlier than expected. Mr. Wilcox spoke about the new year approaching and new board members. There is a new training tower being built. 8) Board of Education Mr. Sullivan spoke about graduation being tonight. Mr. Sullivan spoke about summer safety projects happening at the schools and they will be transitioning to a new bus company for the fall. 9) Public Works Ms. Yeisley read a thank you note to the DPW crew about work on PAC project. 10) Social Services Ms. Formanek gave an update on work done with reduction in SNAP benefits from Federal action. Social Services is assisting with utility bills and the renters rebate program. 11) VNA Ms. Garrison spoke about monitoring ebola and currently there is no DPH guidance for homecare providers. There is a blood pressure clinic at Eno today. 12) Main Street Partnership Ms. Yeisley read a note about marathon event at PAC parking issues in the down town business parking lots, and that Main Street was working with the youth soccer tournament to promote local businesses. 13) Eversource Mr. Massaro said Eversource is monitoring weather storms as we approach the summer and storm season. Residents should call Eversource if they notice any abnormalities in their service or homes.\ 14) Other Ms. Yeisley led a discussion on the upcoming 25th anniversary of September 11th and asked the First Responders if they had started planning any recognition events.
