TOWN OF SIMSBURY, CONNECTICUT REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 8:00 A.M.
Main Meeting Room, Town Hall
Present were:
Diana Yeisley and Mike Paine
Others in attendance included: Nicholas Boulter, Tom Fitzgerald, Karin Stewart, Marc Nelson,
Tom Roy, Jim Traficante, Jamie Dudyak, Todd Myers, Chris Davis, Kristen Formanek, and
Sarah Nielsen.
The Regular Meeting of the Public Safety Subcommittee to order at 8:00 A.M.
Pledge of Allegiance
All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes:
The Minutes from December 10th and 15th were approved.
Updates:
1) Update on August 22nd Multiple Events in Simsbury
Ms. Yeisley led the discussion on the upcoming multiple large projects in town on August 22nd.
She mentioned a meeting of emergency personnel that was recently held and asked for everyone
to be in good communication about the date from now until then.
2) Farmington Valley Health District
Ms. Dudyak spoke communications from the FVHD on flooding. She said it is starting to be tick
season and asked everyone to be careful and that they are keeping an eye on Lonestar ticks.
3) Town Manager’s Office
Mr. Fitzgerald spoke the newsletter and new town website. Mr. Nelson discussed the town
budget.
4) Emergency Management
Mr. Traficante was introduced as new Emergency Management Director. He said that the focus
of the department recently has been weather and winter storms..
5) Police
Mr. Boulter informed the group about adjustments to the Citizen’s Police Academy. He said they
are looking into a shred event. Mr. Boulter reminded people to lock their car doors. Finally, Mr.
Boulter concluded by telling the group about their new officer that was recently hired.
6) Ambulance
Ms. Stewart reviewed the yearly call data for SVAA.
7) Fire
Mr. Myers read a stat about 7 fires in the past 2 months which is an uptick. There was discussion
on the PAC construction status. Mr. Myers reminded the group that open burning requires a
permit and reminded people about dryer safety and grilling safety. Mr. Myers concluded with an
update on new fire trucks taking about 3 years for a buildout.
8) Board of Education
June 18th is graduation, and a contingency location is being located in case PAC construction
prevents it being held at normal location.
9) Public Works
Mr. Roy gave an update on department through winter storm season.
10) Social Services
Ms. Formanek gave an update on recent coordinated efforts from multiple departments regarding
assistance for some residents. The department is seeing an increase in food insecurity and they
are wrapping up energy assistance applications.
11) VNA
None
12) Main Street Partnership
Ms. Nielsen said PAC season is upcoming for local businesses.
13) Eversource
Ms. Yeisley read an update about a review of outages during recent storms and there is an
arborist reviewing area for high risk trees.
14) Other
Community Clean Up Day is April 25th.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:13 A.M.
