TOWN OF SIMSBURY – CULTURE, PARKS, AND RECREATION COMMISSION
Subject to Vote of Approval – Regular Meeting Minutes – Thursday, June 25, 2026 – 2 pages
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Dave Bush, Chairman, at the Simsbury Farms Golf Course
Outing Tent. Other commission members who were present included Chris Boswell, Kelly Kearney, Michelle
Lipar, Erik Petersen, Lori Coppinger, Trevor Brittell, and Andrew Droney. The C. P. & R. Director Tom
Tyburski and Board of Selectmen Liaison, Cutis Looney were also in attendance.
Public Session- None
Welcome to new Commission Member, Trevor Brittell- The Commission members introduced themselves.
Mr. Brittell shared that he has been with the Simsbury Police Department for 12 years and is excited to be part
of the Commission.
Agenda Items
Minutes – Approval of May 2026 special meeting minutes- Mr. Bush declared the May 2026 minutes
approved and requested that they be put on record.
Birdie and The Barrel Update – Ms. Pasquariello shared that everyone has been very supportive, they have
had a few bumps here and there but they are loving it. The feedback has been positive for the most part. Mr.
Bush agreed, stating that the comments regarding the quality of the food have been good as well as the staff. He
shared that he feels they have made a good decision on their pricing. Mr. Tyburski shared that the Pasquariello
family has been a pleasure to work with and their enthusiasm has been contagious. Ms. Boswell commented
that it’s fun to be there again.
Pro Shop Update – Mr. Verrengia shared that year to date they are doing just as good as they did last year, they
are about $100k over what they did last year in golf revenues. Outing are pretty much the same, they picked up
some and lost some. They did well with season passes this year and hopefully the weather holds up. Mr. Bush
asked if a single golfer can book a tee time, Mr. Verrengia shared that is only possible if the single is booking
into part of another group.
Golf Maintenance Dept. Update – Mr. Johnson shared that the weather this spring has not been conducive to
growing good grass out on the course. Overall, the fairways, bunkers, tees are in good shape. The timeline for
#2 green damage and healing was shared. He also shared pictures regarding #1 green ice damage and #14
winter ice damage. #4 green ice damage and recovery was also shown and discussed. Mr. Tyburski shared they
received an estimate to fix the #2 green design issue and drainage issues and it would be $100k+, which is why
they chose to attempt turf repairs in house this spring.
Pool Membership Update - Mr. Tyburski shared they are into their high season; this is the busiest week of the
summer for Simsbury Rec between camps and the pool. They have sold 61 more pool memberships than last
year.
Summer Program Update – . Enrichment camps are 70 enrollments below where they were last year. They
have also leased more community gardens than last year. There is a new rugby program on the weekends with a
good turnout. Mr. Tyburski shared that the ice cream social and community band concert is next Wednesday,
July 1st, and asked anyone who is able to volunteer to let him know.
Last Day of School Funfest & Annual SF Touch A Truck Event Summaries -Mr. Tyburksi shared that
thehad about 265 kids for last day of school event. They had a DJ and a bounce house. The Touch A Truck
event crowd is estimated to be about 2300 in attendance. Goodard School and Hartford Healthcare were in
attendance as new Friends of Simsbury Farms Community Partners
Misc. Facility Improvement Projects Update- Mr. Tyburski shared that the dog waste stations are around the
property now. He also shared that bike racks from Friends of Simsbury Farms will be going in this week or
next. They are still working on putting the cart path and drainage project out to bid. The speed bumps are also
new as many people were “running” the second stop sign.

Ms. Boswell made a motion to adjourn. Ms. Coppinger seconded the motion. All were in favor. The meeting
adjourned at 6:50 p.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Simsbury Culture, Parks and Recreation Commission is scheduled for
Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 6:00pm at the Town Hall Main Meeting Room.
