Hometown Hero Selection Committee
Special Meeting

MINUTES
Members Present: Wendy Mackstutis, Kevin Beal, Sabrina Teixeira, Jay Willerup, Jane McAlpine,
Amy Sheehan
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM.
The group introduced themselves since four members were new this year.
1) Discussion on Hometown Hero Nominations
The Committee discussed all of the nominations in detail and eligibility criteria.
2) Determine Hometown Hero Award Recipient(s)
By consensus the group agreed to have the 2026 Hometown Hero Recipients be: Lions Club of
Simsbury, Christine Poler Fleming, Mike Long, Garance Herve-Mignucci, Simsbury Loan Locker
Volunteers, and Dave Ryan.
3) 2026 Ceremony Date
Ms. Mackstutis said they would hold the ceremony on June 8th at 5:00 PM on the green outside Town
Hall prior to that night’s Board of Selectmen Meeting. The Town Manager’s Office will coordinate
logistics.
4) 2027 Meeting Calendar
The 2027 Regular Meeting Schedule as presented was amended to have the meeting start at 5:00 pm.
Ms. Sheehan motioned to adjourn the meeting at 5:49 PM. Ms. McAlpine seconded. All were in favor and
the motion passed.
