SIMSBURY RECYCLING COMMITTEE ZOOM MEETING AGENDA March 5, 2026 at 9:30 am Subject to the vote of approval • Call to Order: Mary Turner called the meeting to order at 9:37 am. • Present: Mary Turner, Joe Daly, Susan Ray • Recycling Committee Meeting Report 11-14-2025: A motion was made by Sue Ray and seconded by Joe Daly to accept the November 14 report. The motion carried. • Workflow: Swap Shop Staffing: Mary thanked the Lions Club as well as community volunteers for volunteering to staff the shop from April through October. Opening Day April 4, weather permitting. Due to the holiday weekend the Turners have agreed to staff the shop for a limited time. Plan is to clean out and set-up all donated items for the following weekend. 2026 Sustainability Report: Joe Daly, Liaison: 1. Sustainability Fair - Saturday May 2nd 10 AM – 2 PM - Simsbury Public Library. The Recycling Committee will have a table at the fair. Joe has also worked with organics recycler Blue Earth and private hauler USA Waste And Recycling / Murphy Road Recycling to have them attend the fair. 2. The Sustainability Committee presented Sustainable Energy Plans / Goals for the town to the BOS in 2025 and will present the same on the topic of Waste in 2026. 3. The Sustainability Committee publishes a monthly newsletter; is working to set up another tour at the Berlin single-stream recycling sorting facility, and works on Sustainable CT recertification when possible. • Action Goals: We hope to increase all numbers with the help of good weather. • Next Meeting/Report: November 13, 2026: In lieu of meeting we will issue the Annual Report in November of 2026 Other meetings during the season may be scheduled as needed. • Unfinished Business: None • New Business: None • Adjournment: Motion to adjourn at 9:51 a.m. was made by Sue and seconded by Joe.
