MINUTES
On February 9, 2026, the Simsbury Youth Services Advisory Board met in person.
Present: Rachael Loveland (Social Services), Amy Papale (Simsbury Public Schools),
Officer Sheehan (SRO), Mary Richardson (Simsbury Public Library), Caitrin Huysman
(CP&R), Diana Yeisley (BOS), Yusra Ali (SHS Student Representative).
Meeting called to order at 2:33 PM.
There was no public comment.
Minutes were approved from the previous YAB meeting, motion to approved made by
C. Sheehan & seconded by C. Huysman, all in favor.
Programming possibilities were discussed. Recap of December 2025 meeting ideas
were discussed, sharing updates on potential safe driving program as well as other
avenues. There is a current survey out with high school parents to determine future
focuses of presentations for both parents and students. A conversation about online
gambling followed with feedback that this is something that seems to be popping up in
youth conversations.
No report from Simsbury School Resource Officer.
No report from Simsbury Public Schools.
Recreation Department reports that summer program registration is up, with day camp
full with a waitlist. Staff reports that there will be an increase in April break programming
including a family bus trip to the Bronx Zoo. Parks & Rec is deep into planning for the
spring and summer, with summer employment opportunities for ages 15+.

Simsbury Teen Librarian an upcoming program with Interval House “Toxic or True Love”
Friday, February 13th with a focus on middle school students. New teen programming
will include a Craft & Chill as well as a Sketch Club. A focus on planning the summer
reading program will be worked on moving forward.
Simsbury Social Services noted upcoming Intergenerational Movie & Pizza Event co-
hosted with the Simsbury Senior Center& Simsbury Public Library on Tuesday,
February 17th. Simsbury Youth Service Bureau will be partnering with Simsbury EMS to
host both a Safe at Home and Safe Sitter class for community youth in late March-
information will be shared in the coming weeks.
Board Liaison report notes that budget season has started with three meetings this
month alone focused on the budget. The Simsbury Charter will be presented and a
public hearing will be shared once scheduled. Simsbury Aging and Disability
Commission is working on planning their Spring event which is typically a movie at the
library but they are working on seeing if they can host it at a theater.
