Simsbury, CT April 5, 2018
The Simsbury Police Department worked with the State of Connecticut Department of Mental
Health and Addiction Services (DHMAS) to conduct tobacco sale compliance checks on April 4,
2018. The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws
prohibiting the sale of cigarettes, tobacco products and electronic cigarettes to anyone under age
18.
Under the direction and supervisor of DHMAS investigators, under aged youth, employed by the
Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, entered the establishments and attempted to
purchase tobacco products.
All of the following businesses were checked and found to be in full compliance during the
checks:
• Walgreens - 540 Bushy Hill Road
• Liquor Depot - 17 Albany Turnpike
• Pride Stores LLC - 1340 Hopmeadow Street
• Gulf - 125 West Street
• T-Ville Wine & Spirits - 41 Main Street
• Shell Quick Stop - 12 Albany Turnpike
• Wine House LLC - 1356 Hopmeadow Street
• Sunrise Convenience - 1225 Hopmeadow Street
