Simsbury, CT September 15, 2016
The Simsbury Police Department is investigating a “swatting” incident that occurred on
9/15/2016 at 55 Elm Street (Willow Arms Apartments) in Tariffville. An anonymous person
called the police department, made a threat to harm a relative and the police. Officers secured
the area very quickly and began communication with school and town officials. For the safety of
the nearby school children and staff, Tariffville School was placed on lockout. School officials
made notifications to parents and safe arrangements for children to leave the school.
Members from the Connecticut State Police provided assistance, while Simsbury Police searched
the entire complex for a victim or threat. The Simsbury Police did not locate any victims or a
threat and believe the incident was a hoax or a “swatting incident”.
