Simsbury, CT September 20, 2012
On Wednesday September 19, 2012, at 8:25 PM the Simsbury Police Department received a 911
cell phone call from a female at 51 Hopmeadow Street Apartment 2A2. She said that her
boyfriend was holding a gun at her, threatening to shoot her and him. Officers were dispatched
to the apartment within 24 seconds of receiving the 911 call. The sound of several gunshots was
heard by the dispatcher.
The first Simsbury officer arrived on scene within 30 seconds of being dispatched. Officers from
Avon and Simsbury assembled and attempted to make contact with the occupants of the
apartment. They were unable to make contact with any occupants, but they heard the sound of a
crying baby inside. Officers forced entry into the apartment and located two deceased adults as
well as a toddler who was uninjured.
The Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit assisted with the investigation. The cause of
death has not yet been officially determined and is still under investigation.
