Press Release
Simsbury, CT March 23, 2012
On March 22, 2012 Dyno Nobel donated a new police bicycle to the Simsbury Police
Department in support of the Department’s public safety efforts. Dyno Nobel Plant Engineering
Manager Richard Higley presented the bike to Town First Selectman Mary Glassman, Police
Commissioner Michael T. Long, Chief Peter N. Ingvertsen and his staff at a Dyno Nobel
employee meeting.
The Simsbury Police Department has numerous certified bicycle members. Officers use the
bikes to patrol parks and recreational areas, the central section of town, schools, special events
and the 7 miles of greenway through the Town. The officers also use the bike to promote
general bicycle safety through education and bike rodeos. The addition of this bike from Dyno
Nobel will enhance the Department’s ability to promote a safe bicycling environment.
