Simsbury Police Department “In Partnership with our Community” Contact: Lieutenant Nicholas Boulter Simsbury Police Department 933 Hopmeadow St. Simsbury, CT 06070 Phone (860) 658-3106 Fax (860) 658-3103 Press Release Simsbury, CT September 1, 2011 The Simsbury Police Department worked with the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to conduct tobacco sale compliance checks on August 18, 2011. Efforts were focused on convenience store settings in Simsbury, some at which the Department received complaints about suspected unlawful sale of tobacco products to minors (e.g. cigarettes, cigars and chew/dip). Compliance checks were performed at the following businesses: American Enterprises II (Gulf) at 125 West Street Gibbs Enterprises (Mobil) at 955 Hopmeadow Street Simsbury Service Center (Mobil) at 404 Hopmeadow Street Citgo Super Value at 518 Hopmeadow Street Shell Quick Stop at 12 Albany Turnpike Infractions were issued at three of the compliance checks for violation of C.G.S. 53- 344(b) Sale of Tobacco to person under 18 years of Age. The violations occurred at: Simsbury Service Center (Mobil) at 404 Hopmeadow Street Citgo Super Value at 518 Hopmeadow Street Shell Quick Stop at 12 Albany Turnpike Compliance checks, investigations and education will continue to be part of our efforts to prevent underage tobacco sales and use.
