Public Works
I wanted to take a moment and report on another
very successful Public Works Open House and
Municipal Touch-A-Truck event. Organized to
recognize Public Works Awareness Week, this
event highlighted the essential municipal vehicles
and equipment that serve the Town of Simsbury
every day. Hundreds of enthusiastic children and
their families participated throughout the day. The
beautiful weather provided a perfect backdrop for
our staff to interact with residents; explaining how
our equipment is utilized to support the Town’s
infrastructure and services.
Beyond the strong community engagement, we were also able to collect a "truckload" of non-
perishable food items and $233 in cash donations; all
will be donated to the Simsbury Food Pantry.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Simsbury residents are invited to participate in the Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the
Simsbury Department of Public Works facility at 66 Town Forest Road, West Simsbury on
Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 8 A.M. to 1 P.M. This will be the second of the three collections
we hold annually in conjunction with the Towns of Avon, Canton, Farmington, Granby, and
Suffield. Residents of the participating towns are welcome to attend this event, free of charge—
they simply need to bring proof of residency with them. We ask that participants approach Town
Forest Road from Stratton Brook Road to simplify the flow of traffic. See the Public Works web
page for information on the materials that are accepted.

of new sidewalks on Firetown Road. The
approximately one-mile-long concrete sidewalk
will be constructed along the west side of Firetown
Road with a crossing near Belden Forest Court.
This grant funded project is expected to be
completed before the 2026-2027 school year
begins.
Simsbury Performing Arts Center
We are nearing the conclusion of the
Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts
Center’s bandshell addition project.
Work is proceeding on schedule for
completion by the end of June - just in
time for the start of the Hartford
Symphony’s Talcott Mountain Music
Festival on July 3, 2026.
Department of Community & Social Services - Simsbury Public Library - DEI Council
We held a Pride Flag Raising Ceremony & Pride Picnic on June 1st! We served 270 hot dogs!
