Each year, our Social Services Department matches donors with children in our community to provide holiday gifts. Library Full-time Library Services Assistant Katie Crawford has been promoted to the position of Children’s Librarian. Katie has her M.A. in Theater Arts Education from NYU and is working toward her Masters in Library Services from Louisiana State University. Katie has been providing the Simsbury community with children’s programs for over a year now and is beloved. We’re excited to have Katie in this new role! Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) On October 16th Manager Nelson attended a CRCOG meeting on their Regional Housing Strategy with Planning Director McGregor. Culture, Parks & Recreation Participate in the Simsbury Celebrates Gingerbread House Competition! The entry deadline is November 18th and the drop off date is November 23rd from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at the Simsbury Free Library. For more information, contact Parks & Rec. at (860) 658-3836. On Thursday, November 13th (1:30 P.M.) there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new Heroes Playground at Weatogue Park located at 267 Hopmeadow Street, Weatogue, CT 06089. There will be hot cocoa, cookies, a fire truck, ambulance, police car, and K9 Clifton! Town Manager’s Office Thank you to everyone that attended the joint meeting of the Culture, Parks & Recreation Commission and Aging & Disability Commission on October 30th for the Memorial Park Splashpad presentation and thank you to Ethel Walker School for hosting! Our 2nd Annual Halloween Costume Contest was a massive success! Stay tuned for pictures…Library has some up already!
