Town of Simsbury Town Manager’s Report October, 2025 Community On September 25th, Simsbury Soccer Club President Ben Berger and I signed the license agreement for the Soccer Club’s use of the soccer fields at Curtiss Park. Thank you to Culture, Parks & Recreation Director Tom Tyburski for all his work on the agreement and the Board of Selectmen for their support. Town Forest Pond Reopening On Wednesday, October 8th, we held the reopening ceremony of Town Forest Pond, a beloved local swimming spot and recreation space. Check it out before it gets too cold! Social Services The Simsbury Food Pantry has a need for canned meats, pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, coffee, hearty soups and other canned meals, crackers, pancake mix, cereal, oatmeal, healthy snacks for kids, household cleaning products, personal hygiene items, and toilet paper. If anyone has any questions about how to donate or where to drop off their items, please contact the Simsbury Social Services Department at (860) 658-3283. Community Planning & Development The Village of Tariffville Neighborhood Plan has been adopted! A summary presentation of implementation items for October 14th @ 6:30 P.M. in the Tariffville Elementary School located at 42 Winthrop Street, Tariffville, CT 06081. Here are some more photos from the presentation; great job Assistant Town Planner Brittany MacGilpin: Public Works Hazardous Household Waste Collection Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 18th (10/18) from 8 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Public Works Campus located at 66 Town Forest Road, West Simsbury, CT 06092. Eno Memorial Hall New Side Entrance Project Completed The project involved the renovation of the existing southern entrance to Eno Memorial Hall to provide a second ADA accessible route into the building. The project included the demolition of the existing sidewalk and stairs to the lower entrance of the building to make room for the new wider sidewalk with a gentle slope allowing access to the building without stairs. New retaining walls were added along the sidewalk ramp to match the look of the existing historical building and associated landscaping, lighting, and drainage improvements were made to tie it all together. Pre-construction of the “lower” entrance to Eno under the roof overhang THE OLD Construction of demolition of the existing stairs to where the new accessible entrance will be located THE DEMO THE NEW Eno Memorial Hall Parking and Safety Improvements On October 10th, we kicked off the Eno Memorial Hall Parking Lot Improvement project. This project involves the reconstruction of the existing rear parking lot at Eno Hall to create a more fluid and standard parking lot. As part of the renovation, the parking lot will be reconfigured with an easy to navigate single drive aisle, matching the adjacent parking lots. As part of this work, the existing steep driveway to Railroad Street will be eliminated and replaced with a retaining wall and stairs for pedestrian access. Installing the retaining wall will allow for the addition of 13 new parking spaces along Railroad Street. Drainage improvements and minor landscaping are also included as part of this project. Construction is expected to last throughout the month of October. - Also, we held a staff appreciation lunch for Public Works and Water Pollution Control staff on September 25th. Thanks Frankie’s Food Truck! Library Over the summer, the Library received more than 3,000 sign ups for their Summer Reading Program! It was their most successful program ever! Police Coffee with a Cop on October 1st was a great success! The Chief of Police, First Selectman, and I were all there. Selectwoman Yeisley and K9 Clifton showed up too. Thanks to The Coffee Spot for hosting! The Simsbury Police Cadets are holding a food drive for our local pantry this Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Fitzgerald’s Foods from 8 am to 2 pm. Collective Bargaining On September 30th I met with union leaders to sign the last collective bargaining agreement until 2028! We merged two unions (A&P and SCL) into one.
