Town Manager’s Report

Department of Public Works:
I couldn’t be prouder of our Public Works Director/Town Engineer
Tom Roy earning the prestigious ‘Top 10 Public Works Leader of
the Year’ Award from the American Public Works Association. He
deserves it and we are lucky to have such a dedicated public servant
on our team! Thank you for your service Tom.
Fire District:
On April 23rd, Simsbury Fire District President Gary Wilcox and
I signed a Memorandum of Understanding strengthening our
shared services between the Town and the Fire District.
Also, the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company is installing new
ceremonial bricks around the Town Hall clock tower. Stay
tuned for the final product…Thanks everyone!
Community:
Also, on April 23rd, I went to Simsbury High School’s career fair!

May is Bike Month and the annual BOS Bike Ride is scheduled
for Wednesday, the 28th at 5:30 PM in front of Town Hall!
Remember to wear your helmet!
June is Pride Month and the Pride flag raising ceremony is scheduled
for Monday, June 2nd at 5 PM at the flagpoles in front of Town Hall.
Please join us in celebrating freedom, fun, and community at
the Town of Simsbury's annual “CELEBRATE FREEDOM”
Juneteenth celebration, scheduled for Saturday, June 14th at
the Simsbury Performing Arts Center from 1-5 PM.
This FREE community event features the best in Black food, brew, and
live music, plus the world’s largest LEGO® Black Brick Play Zone and

On Thursday, June 19th at 10 AM, there will be a Peter & Esther
Jackson Memorial Dedication and Monument Unveiling at Eno
Memorial Hall and the Simsbury Cemetery.

The Simsbury Chamber Music Festival is hosting their annual
Chamber Music Masterworks on June 3rd at 7:30 PM at Eno
Memorial Hall. The concert is free!

with a Master’s Degree
in Public Administration!

Community & Social Services:
For the 2024 tax year, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) came to Simsbury
to help our seniors file their taxes. This program was developed for low to moderate income
seniors to provide personal help navigating the complex tax process.
They were able to complete and file tax returns for 230 Simsbury residents! Thank you to Social
Services Director Kristen Formanek, Senior Center Director Kathleen Marschall, Senior Center
Coordinator Karen Haberlin, Library Head of Adult Services Chris Carney, and Library Director
Lisa Miceli for their assistance!
Town of Simsbury Police Department:
Please welcome our new Police Department Records Clerk Jessica Salas! She began working for
the Town on Thursday, May 1st.
On Saturday, June 7th at 10 AM, Animal Control Officer
Clark is hosting a Rabies Vaccination Clinic at the
Weatogue Fire Station (251 Hopmeadow Street). For more

We would like to recognize the Simsbury-Granby Rotary
Club for their continued support with our police cadet
program. For the last 3 years, the Rotary Club has provided
monetary donations to support cadet attendance at the week-
long police cadet academy, hosted at Westfield State
University. Recently, the Rotary Club donated funds to
support two cadets at the academy this coming summer.
They have a long history of supporting our mission to serve
and provide services to the community. Thank you to the
Rotarians!
On Tuesday, May 13th, we will be
highlighting the Police Department’s
autism awareness traffic stop with a
short Simsbury Community Media
interview! Check it out!
On June 21st at 9 AM at Westminster
School, join the Police Department to
conduct a routine traffic stop for drivers
and passengers with ASD.

Culture, Parks & Recreation:
Register here before May 15th for Happy Campers: an outdoor camp for 6-
8 year olds from July 7th to the 10th! Campers will be exploring different
themes such as nature, water, art, and fitness throughout the week led by
two elementary school teachers. They will get to experience hands-on
activities, learn new things and show their creativity through making,
building, and moving.
Simsbury Farms Pools Season Passes Preseason Sale Ends on May 31st!
Residents are encouraged to purchase their pool passes before fees increase in
June. Passes can be purchased online at www.SimsburyRec.com or in person
during business hours at Simsbury Farms. Save Now - Swim Later!
