Town Manager’s Report

Police:
Junior & Citizen’s Police Academy applications are live! Please check out
their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/simsburyctpolicedepartment for
more information.
Officer Nick Guimond recently completed field training, the department’s
evaluation program, and is now assigned to the patrol division as a solo
officer! Officer Guimond joined our department last Fall after a few years
with the Hartford Police.
Public Works:
I have the pleasure of announcing that Tom Roy, our Public Works
Director and Town Engineer, recently became a member of the
Incident Management Team Committee of the State of Connecticut
Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security
(DEMHS) Advisory Council. This council is tasked with protecting
the people and property in the State of Connecticut from all types of
natural and human-made disasters, fostering regional collaboration and
mutual aid through research, collaborative plan development, resource
and information sharing, and coordination.
While serving on this committee, Tom and the other members will be instrumental in making
recommendations to the Advisory Council and the Deputy Commissioner of Division of Statewide
Emergency Telecommunications to help enhance and improve Incident Command in the use of
the National Incident Management System, as needed.
Social Services:
SAVE THE DATE!
We are hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on
February 13th at 4 P.M. in Palmer Hall at
Simsbury First Church to celebrate the new
location of our Food Pantry.
Historical Society:
This year, April 19th marks 250 years since the start of the
Revolutionary War at the battles of Lexington and Concord.
The Simsbury 250th Celebration Committee established to
celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the
Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026!
They are seeking a volunteer to chair Programs and Events. Interested
candidates, please contact Tony Braz, Vice Chair of our Zoning Commission
and Simsbury Historical Society President, via email at tbraz1960@gmail.com.
Board of Finance:
The Board of Finance has scheduled a public hearing,
Tuesday, February 18th at 5:45 P.M. in the Town Hall Main
Meeting Room, on the Board of Education’s proposed
purchase of real property at 2 Farms Village Road for the
purpose of special education services.
